The truth is never far behind, you keep it hidden well...

I think things like our passwords can tell a lot about us.

First is the matter of the password itself. The literal meaning, the area it draws from, its connect in our lives. It can be quite telling about our moods and swings.

And then our behaviour with our passwords. People who have the same password for forever and people who change their passwords every fortnight. At the obvious rational level, this behaviour tells us about peoples varied security needs. How some people take security for granted and others may be paranoid. At a sublime level about peoples need for stability, change avoidance etc. Given that their lives may be changing at what seems to them to be an alarming pace.

There are people who are liberal with their passwords and people who would guard their passwords with a passion similar to that of the black cads. Cover the keyboard, look over their shoulder, a sight which is quite amusing. Maybe correlated with their willingness/ unwillingness to share their lives with others, or maybe a need for attention, to be drawn out.

Ok back to the word in the password. My passwords for one are normally titles of songs. Titles which mostly tell a tale. My first password and a password which stuck for a long time was ontopoftheworld. Yup that is the way I felt. From there it moved to comfortablynumb. A song I hadn't even heard. Then there were Iamabarbie girl, asmallworld, mannkilagan all of which enjoyed brief stints. And then for a longish time it has been lemontree. Why lemontree? Well the inspiration is fool's gardens single. What gets me is the upbeat tone on this otherwise mopey number. That's me for now. (Sidenote: when you read the lyrics sing along for the upbeat tone)

I'm sitting here in the boring room
It's just another rainy Sunday afternoon
I'm wasting my time, I got nothing to do
I'm hanging around, I'm waiting for you
But nothing ever happens and I wonder

I wonder how I wonder why
Yesterday you told me 'bout the blue blue sky
And all that I can see is just a yellow lemon-tree
I'm turning my head up and down
I'm turning turning turning turning turning around
And all that I can see is just another lemon-tree

Ok onto another thing . Which can again quite tell our lives, moods and swings - cellphone wallpapers.

And so telling the past six months through my motorazor.

Felt much the same the first time I managed to hook my laptop to the 'net via the cellphone -- without needing to holler for the husband :-)

A few friends have trusted me with their passwords on occasions. Passwords do tell a lot about their lives. On another note, my accounts have been hacked soooo many times. It's not like they were simple passwords or anything, and I wonder what people find so interesting about me. Anyway, i decided i needed a regular change of passwords. So, everytime i have a new crush, my passwords change :D...

What an insight! Now i'm wondering about all the passowrds i've ever had. During post grad, i even had bloodyhell! as my passowrd. Wonder what was that all about! And why!
By the way, in related developments, i'm in Delhi for 3 weeks :D

Nice. Passwords do tell a lot, sometimes I do wish that I knew the passwords that a few people used. Hmmm.

I love the song, Lemontree... especially the line which goes, 'Nothing ever happens'! :)

vij: "bloodyhell"- awesome. call when u r here and hopefully we will meet up at probably chocola!

primal: and sometimes i try and guess other peoples passwords hoping to find a clue about me there. but nothing ever happens ... ;)

goldenibb: me too. they are like an identity we give ourselves , which is not constrained by any worldly truths

nm: hon, i am curious and jealous of oldest friend unborn baby. the rest is fine.

well observed, my dear lemon. passwords and user names - so teling!

although i once had "dixiechicks" as a password. ask me to name one song they've sung, or any country song for that matter, and you'll draw a blank. maybe it has a deeper sub conscious sort of meaning...

nice pics. i liked blissfully bored for some reason. tried to read the words. picked up "pizza hut" there somewhere. what were you reading?

My passwords arise out of the moment I am changing passwords, so I don't give it much thought. Like once, when I was changing passwords, that song by Uncle Kracker was playing. So it was FollowMe for the longest time. Then one of my psychopath serial killer boyfriends (now ex) got hold of it (how? I told him, simp that I am). So I changed it. I try not to be predictable. And since I have about five different conversations going on at the same time on different cylinders, it's not too difficult.

pink: dixiechicks hehehehehe. that book there is "one night @ call center by chetan bhagat" a 4 hour easy read which i stretched over some 2 weeks but never mind

preyanca: i cant agree more with you on the passwords. that one word seems to be a private dairy almost:). btw welcome to my space

jenn: hey! the coolest thing me thinks is that even when we dont give them (passwords) so much thought , they any which way tell a story

Very interesting points brought up about passwords. I realized that some of the passwords you mentioned were about 'you', describing a state of mind you are in at that moment or in that phase. All of my passwords are about people in my life. What a great thought to think about on a sunday afternoon...

This was such an interesting read. Ive never thought of people's passwords, or really even my own before. I keep it simple, always have, and it is the name I would give to my son...if ever I have one.
